Religion as a source of peace and conciliation in society
The
international crisis forces even
religious leaders, as well as the faithful, to become engaged in this new
phenomenon in modern society. Various researchers, not just economists, try to
determine the causes of modern crisis
and suggest ideas for implementation, in order to solve this worldwide impasse
that brings societies on the verge of destruction.
To this
day there is no agreement on the views, on the reasons that brought about the
crisis. Yet, a rather popular view
claims that it is not only the purely economic causes, but also the moral attitude of citizens to
things, that is liable for the poor results and the international crisis.
Naturally, the moral attitude of
citizens is mainly shaped by religion. Religion traditionally has the role,
with the divine and moral law, to educate the faithful, who are at the same
time citizens of the state. Similarly, the state tries with the human law, to
educate citizens, so that the rule of law and the social state operate for
everyone.
The
"Modern Western Civilisation” profile, presented as infected today by the
crisis, is deeply rooted in the western European humanitarian tradition and
indeed in the movement of the Enlightenment. A specific anthropology was generated,
according to which man was secluded in his cognitive tool of reason and
deprived of all other psychological - spiritual functions.
Religions, particularly
the three monotheistic religions, which believe and preach the one true God, face a war against them by
confrontation of reasonableness. In
the western civilization of the
enlightenment, cultural dialogue is essentially futile. It is deemed that
anything beyond reasonableness and reason should be eliminated. Anything beyond
reason is deemed as darkness. This is of course an ideological prejudice that
led the West to the political and financial imperialism and the modern
impasse. Indeed this could also be the
substantial reason for the creation of globalisation, in the last decades, as
the necessary measure-suggestion on the impasse of constant imperialism, which
is the creation of Godless human reason.
Religion remains today as
the only dynamic opponent and arch-enemy
of atheist intellect of the atheist western
man. Religious faith must save everything, namely humans, to whom God
creator gave a body but a soul too. The
anthropological dogma of atheist enlightenment is annulled and loses its
dynamism through religious faith.
The modern movement of new atheists, without being something completely new, attempts to condemn
religious faith, as the sole source of all modern woes, and indeed even of war.
Religious faith is condemned as the
last and great obstacle that needs to be overcome so that all people are
united, so that they live supposedly harmoniously all together, naturally
without having any religious or other particularities. Let us please note that
"particularity" in atheistic
Enlightenment means contradiction and conflict.
The role of religious leaders in awareness and awakening of the people today is more important
than ever. They are the only ones who can save humanity. Religious leaders, provided that they are
blessed and faithful to their divine mission, may increase awareness and awaken
their faithful; they may fight the spiritual battle against atheism that is
opposite to faith in God.
New Atheists, today
a) cannot have
a substantial understanding of our religious traditions (Jewish, Christian and Muslim) and
b) due to the absolute reasoning they apply to
everything, they cannot understand our
religious traditions, based on their strictly logical conditions.
For
atheist humans of the Enlightenment, their
only property "reasonableness",
is not an actual property. It is not a
faith. It is only a tool and indeed a cut-off tool from the total of the human
being which is a psycho-somatic entity.
These reasons make the atheist western
man of the enlightenment conceptually inaccessible. Anything
"outside" this world cannot be processed. The only moral commands for atheists arise from
the human law.
Today,
the need for a structured answer on the
behalf of religious traditions is more urgent than ever. And this is
because the aggressiveness of New Atheism keeps getting greater and
greater. Especially in education of all
grades, it seems that anthropologic type is being cultivated, deprived of any
religious or other identity.
The three great monotheistic of the East share a common anthropological tradition. A Tradition opposing the modern Gnosticism of Western Enlightenment. They
have common responsibility towards humans.
All three have the common story of the Fall of Adam and Eve and the
responsibility taught by the Bible by this narration.
The
spiritual role of all three Traditions determines their responsibility, to
awaken the world and unveil the "snake of the secularized atheistic
Enlightenment before it leads the human world history to the end of the
abyss.
Diversity
of the dogma or of the religion is not the feature we need to be afraid
of. The respect of diversity is enhanced
by the faith to One God. This common
faith is the common ground for religious leaders so that today, first they can
be awakened, in order to work for the spiritual awakening and readiness of
their faithful, against secularisation and loss of faith to One and True God.
The role
of religious leaders and their supporters is particularly important in today’s
secularized society. They are unique in that, through their true belief in One
God, through their daily prayer and chaste life, are invited to awaken society
every day and bring peace to the whole world.
If the
religious leaders and believers are not able to keep their faith in God, and
through this faith help all humanity, then human society, without moral
formation, will risk self-destruction.
